The Bureau Alcohol and Drugs (BAD) in Suriname was founded on 3 November 1986. Its aim was to provide aid to alcoholics and drug addicts, as well as to carry out preventive activities. The therapeutic and supporting methods are described and the preventive activities explained. The overall conclusion is that BAD cannot cope with its task on its own. Therefore, with help from other institutions, it should expand the assistance and preventive activities
